HURTS > DAK

We are just a few hours from the NFL 2025 season kickoff and Jalen Hurts is a better QB than Dak Prescott.

To be honest this one is easy because the gap between them is vast. Dak is a mid round mediocre QB who has never been able to truly compete with the best of them. Much like Tony Romo before him.

And Dak is a great example of how national media love to praise his aesthetic traits that are actually his weaknesses. What do all Dak lovers say when they describe how he plays?

“Dak throws the ball into tight windows”

Well, sure, he is a gunslinger. And maybe last century that was the best way to win, but that is no longer the case. His style looks great in the regular season, but has cost him MANY games in January.

What is the difference between the regular season and the post season? The competition of course.

In the Wild Card round you face better than average teams.
In the Divisional Round you face good teams.
In the Conference Round you face great teams.
And in the Super Bowl you face the best team the other conference has to offer.

The only round when you may get a dud is the Wild Card round - and that is the only round Dak has ever won a game in. He has 2 Wild Card wins in his career - to go with 5 playoff losses. He has played in the league for 9 seasons and is 32 years old.

Dak stans act like post season failure is due to bad luck. The excuses made for the top chokers (Dak, Lamar and Allen) are ridiculous. BE SPECIFIC. We have the game tape. We can go back and see how these QBs played down by down in those losses and identify if they were a major contributor to the result.

So let’s check it out in Dak’s case - game by game - these are all of his playoff games:

1/15/17 - Lost to GB at home 34-31 - Divisional Round
24/38 - 63.2% - 302 - 3 - 1
8 years ago - long before all the injuries. This was actually a good playoff game for Dak. His very first one and he played well. Watching this game back I was impressed with his play and you can make the argument that his defense let him down. What is important to notice is that this is probably his 2nd best playoff game. He has one other stellar example…the other 5 games are mediocre or far worse.

1/5/19 - Beat SEA at home 24-22 - Wild Card Round
22/33 - 66.6% - 226 - 1 - 1
6 Years ago - ancient history in the NFL, but this is one of Dak’s two playoff wins, and it came against a team that didn’t really belong in the playoffs. Russ was already in decline. His peak was 2014 and 2015 - when he took the Seahawks to back to back Super Bowls. But this was not that same Seattle team. This was more Legion of Poof than Legion of Boom. Still - kudos Dak, you used to be a better than average QB in January.

1/12/19 - Lost to Rams in LA - Divisional Round
20/32 - 62.5% - 266 - 1 - 0
One week later and Dak showed that even if they could beat a weak Seattle team they were not really ready to compete with a good NFL team. This started as a game - but then in the second quarter Dallas just couldn’t sustain drives. 3 straight punts and the game was over. Dallas put up 2 TDs in the 2nd half but was never close to tying it up. They simply were outpaced and Dak could not keep up with Jared Goff.

FOR REFERENCE - the 2020 season is Dak’s 5th season in the league. At this point in his career Dak was 1-2 in the playoffs and had his first major injury.

FOR COMPARISON - in Jalen Hurts 5th NFL season, only his 4th as a starter, Jalen took his team BACK to a 2nd Super Bowl and won his first ring. Jalen is now 6-3 in the playoffs.

Tell me to my face that Dak is better than Hurts - and sadly you know what happens to Dak from here, and it just continues to be bad.

1/16/22 - Lost to SF at home 30-22 - Wild Card Round
23/43 - 53.5% - 254 - 1 - 1
This is my favorite because this is when Dak starts to really become “Choker Dak”. I am not sure if the playoff losses started to get to him, but this is when he completely falls apart. They got behind early and then Dak threw an interception while pushing to come back. And this ending may be my favorite Dak moment of all time. This is the game he ended by running out his own clock. One of the dumbest things I have ever seen a QB do on a football field. And that is saying something.

1/16/23 - Beat TB in TB 31-14 - Wild Card Round
25/33 - 75.8% - 305 - 4 - 0
This is BY FAR Dak’s best playoff game. He was amazing in this game, BUT it was against one of the worst playoff teams since the 7 team playoff expansion. The Bucs were an 8-9 team that clearly did not belong in the post season. Dak only ever shines against lesser teams. Cuz when you try to gunsling and force the ball into tight windows against real NFL defenses, you lose. Dak proves this, again and again.

1/22/23 - Lost to SF in SF 19-12 - Divisional Round
23/37 - 62.2% - 206 - 1 - 2
In this game Dak was utterly pathetic - couldn’t do shit all game long. Nothing really to say except DAK SUCKS.

1/14/24 - Lost to GB at home 48-32 - Wild Card Round
41/60 - 68.3% - 403 yards - 3 TDs - 2 Ints
Dallas literally did not score until the last play of the 1st half. Dak was completely outclassed - they were never in this game and Dak threw several inexcusable picks.

And if you don’t want to listen to me anymore, watch his January picks. Were these his fault? You be the judge:

My conclusion - the very trait that subpar national analysts love about Dak, his gunslinging tight window throws, are the reason he will never be successful in January. He can’t pull that shit against real teams and it has played out predicatably for 9 years now. AND they just traded their best player away to a rival because they have a geriatric GM that is by far the worst in the league.

And so I ask you? How many years does 32 year old Dak have left? He is coming off ANOTHER major injury this season. His team is a husk of it’s former glory. His O line is weak, they have no defense whatsoever, no RB, Only 2 WRs and a mediocre TE. Do you really think this weak team will be competitive in time for Dak to make another run?

I think he has about 3 years left - and Dallas ain’t winning shit in that time. How many playoff games will Jalen win in the next 3 years? 5 years? 10 years? Jalen is 27.

Jalen Hurts is simply far more intelligent and mentally tough than Dak - and that makes all the difference in the world. These two guys face off in 2 hours. Who will have a better game?

If you think Dak is better than Hurts YOUR QB SCALE IS BROKEN!
